Becken enters Düsseldorf office real estate market and develops first property on Kennedydamm
  • Hamburg project developer continues expansion in major German cities
  • Purchase of an 8,000 square meter property from the ZURICH Group Germany
  • A major anchor tenant has already been acquired
  • Completion is scheduled for 2019

Hamburg, 30.05.2017. The Hamburg-based real estate company Becken continues to expand and purchases its first plot of land in Düsseldorf for the construction of a multi-tenant office property. The specialist for the development, realization and long-term asset and investment management of commercial and residential properties has acquired the approximately 8,000 square meter plot at Schwannstrasse 10 from the ZURICH Group Germany. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Colliers International GmbH acted as agent for the property. The demolition of the existing building formerly used by Siemens AG will take place shortly.

Dr. Michael Becken, Managing Director of Becken Holding GmbH, explains: "The special feature of the planned building lies in its basic shape. In line with the layout of the plot, the building will have a free form in a horizontal figure of eight. Two inner courtyards will be created for this purpose. We are delighted to have secured Bankhaus Lampe as an anchor tenant."

The building planned by pinkarchitekur Düsseldorf comprises six floors above ground in the north and five floors above ground in the south, with a total gross floor area of around 21,000 square meters. Around 300 parking spaces will also be created in the two basement levels.

Dominik Tenhumberg, Managing Director of Becken Development GmbH, adds: "It is very important to us to develop an office building for Düsseldorf that is both modern and sustainable. In order to ensure the quality of the DGNB-certified building, we have decided not to use up the approved number of storeys. Construction is due to start this year and is scheduled for completion in 2019."
