Hamburg, March 6, 2018 - The real estate company Becken, a specialist in the development, realization and long-term asset and investment management of commercial and residential properties, has acquired an office property in the northern part of Potsdam's city centre for its existing portfolio. The property is located at Behlertstrasse 3a and has a floor area of around 6,100 square meters. The multi-tenant office building, which is 80 percent let, has a total rental area of around 7,300 square meters. The contracting parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The tenants include well-known companies with strong credit ratings such as ERGO Beratung und Vertrieb AG, E.ON IT GmbH and arvato direct services Potsdam GmbH.
Olaf Drossert, Managing Director of Becken Asset Management GmbH, emphasizes the attractive overall economic situation in the state capital: "Potsdam is benefiting from its rapidly growing economy, particularly in the information and communication technology sector as well as the media and creative industries. Thanks to its large number of universities and institutes, the city is also of particular importance as a science location. Its close proximity to Berlin has also led to a massive increase in importance as an office location, which is reflected in a positive commuter balance1 of around 15,600 commuters." Jens Hogekamp, Managing Director of Becken Asset Management GmbH, adds: "Large-volume space offers are rare in Potsdam's rather small-scale office real estate market. At the same time, there is great potential demand due to the price gap between the office locations of Berlin and Potsdam, especially for rental space of more than 1,000 square meters. We are currently in negotiations for the first rental agreements of this size. In view of the continuing shortage of available space and the further rise in demand, we expect growth to increase over the next few years."
